Much Ado

I was filling out a profile today that asked for my blog address and so here I am, checking in.  Please don't think for one minute that I have forgotten my favorite room on the internet.  I have to much to share and none of it earth shattering.

Well, wait a minute, one announcement is ginormous!  My son has been accepted to a big 4 year university!  This is big for any kid, but this one, the one who has so-so grades and a mediocre ACT, it is monumental, especially for this particular school.

At the moment it's snowing.  We haven't had nearly as much white stuff as we did last year and nothing like the east coast has experienced.  That said, this one looks like a doozy, at least for us.

Commitment to Blogging

You may have noticed I'm not posting everyday like I used to.  I'm busy, my brain is drained, but mostly I haven't kept with my commitment to blogging.  A couple years ago I challenged myself to post every single day - and I met that challenge.  I woke up every morning contemplating the day's post, frequently coming up with multiple topics.

My head still buzzes with topics, but my computer time seems to be occupied with other pursuits.  Like Pinterest and playing Bubble Blast.  So those aren't really unworthy computer occupations, but they have drawn me away from my commitment.

It's time to recommit myself, even if it's post pictures for the day.  So hang tight and let's see how well I do this time.

Funny Sites

In case you need some supplimental reading whilst surfing the internet I have plenty of blogs on my sidebar, all of which I strongly suggest.  However, if you need a hearty belly laugh, scroll down a little further to the warped sites that make me laugh.

There's the priceless People of Walmart that you've probably seen passed around in emails.

Catalog Living and Cake Wrecks never fail to amuse (and they're tastefully PG for the most part)

In the last few days I've added two more, sooooooo not PG, but awesomely funny:  Texts From Bennett (offensive to the highest degree, but proof stupid is funny) and Renaissance Babies (I really had no clue the number of U-G-L-Y painted babies out there!)

Check them out

I could blog but I'm on vacation.

BUT I just had to share a deliciously evil idea.  Go read The Bloggess!

...see ya in a few days!

Parenting Advice

I'm in a bit of a pickle.  My son and his fiancee are expecting their first child in ELEVEN WEEKS.  Folks, grandmahood is barreling down on me (and in case you're aware of the calendar, my own birthday is TEN weeks away... it is sooooo very possible that grandbaby could pop out early and share Grandmama's birthday!  PS, "grandmama" is totally stolen from Bewitched - can you see me as Endora????)  I am soooooo excited but I also am in a bit of a quandary as to what sort of grandma I'm going to be, truly not wanting to be the super meddling Endora and Good Lord I do not plan to dress like her or wear her heavy blue eye shadow.

I know, I know, it will all work itself out, but this has been weighing on me.  I do not want to meddle and I do not want to be overbearing and I do not want to be intrusive, all of which have crossed my mind more than once.   On top of that I have a shitload of advice to unload.  They NEED to hear what I have to say.

How do I keep myself at bay?  I mean we're talking about a person with very little self control.  My kids are convinced I have turettes, dropping the f-bomb at the most inappropriate times (they learned to cuss from dear ol' mom, not their Marine Corps daddy).

So here is my solution - BLOGGING.  Ah yes, don't we just love this medium?  I revived my other blog "Whoas, Woes, and Wahs" and am using it to download all of this parenting advice rattling around in my head.  I had started it so we could share all of those Woe/WHOA causing moments, but juggling two blogs got to be too much and it really wasn't as interactive as I hoped.  But now, it seems to be the perfect place to house all of those bits of experience and whatnot that other people seem to constantly want  from me.  It's available if my son or other children ever want to seek it out, but more importantly it's keeping me from standing on anyone's doorstep shouting all of my self-imposed wisdom.

YAWNNNNN

I cannot think of a single thing to write this morning - don't you hate when that happens?  I could blather on how I have nothing in my head, but clearly I have too much.  I could also share with you that what I'm doing right here, right now, is exactly what we're taught to do in creative writing class - just write, even about nothing.  It helps clear writer's block.

But anyways...

1.  Please ask me a question and hopefully that will be blog fodder for the next several days.  Ask something about me you're dying to know, ask about St. Louis or my childhood in Oregon, or ask advice... OOOH!  I love answering advice questions.  I love coming up with smartass responses.  It's loads of fun.

2.  Read a couple of blogs from my sidebar, somebody you don't normally follow.  Make sure to leave them some comment love.

Have a glorious day.

(Wow, I'm being really bossy today!  Sorry.  No I'm not.  DO MY BIDDING)

Commenting Pays Off

On New Years I made a very real effort to click on all of the blogs listed in my sidebar and wish everyone a happy new year.  As a participant in Friday Fragments I voiced my desire to comment more when I read a blog.  I was very disappointed that I couldn't hit more blogs, but I certainly hit more blogs than I do in a regular weekend.

Well, wow!

First welcome to the new followers!  That was amazing watching new faces pop up in my follower list.

But I'm also being rewarded with lots of comments from all of you.  It's very exciting.

Thank you

Blog Addiction

OMG!  How do you do it?  Or is it just me?

I could easily sit and read blog after blog all damn day.  This is far more enjoyable than scrubbing toilets or balancing my checkbook or grocery shopping or answering phones or calling Apple for repairs or... well just about anything.  I could easily cut off 3D human contact if I could meander through blog world for the rest of time.  This shit is fun.

The problem is I'm too nosy for my own good.  And here y'all are laying out your daily lives and posting pictures.... yeah, way to feed the addiction.  Thanks a lot.

If there's a 12 step program, I've just admitted I have a problem.  Step one ACCOMPLISHED.  I have ADD so it's not likely I will finish the progr...  OMG there's another cool link!
