You just have to love falling into the middle of a big street fair when walking from one tourist destination to another. This one happened to be a gigantic car show with streets upon streets blocked off, a band, food vendors, and of course cars galore.
This was a ramp where the car revved to super high speeds. One look and my son knew instantly what it was and rattled off all sorts of information. Clearly the wrong person attended this event.
Look closely. Can you find the duct tap AND bunge cord?
Nephews' hair was dyed purple to cheer on their sister. Oddly it matched this raspberry car perfectly.
I love this old rusted car. All of the other ones were shiny and remodeled. It was sort of refreshing to see one in a realistic state for a 60 year old car (beyond the new chrome, engine and tires)

Just Hanging Out
On Saturday my mother, daughter, and I traveled to Springfield Illinois to watch my niece compete in the national dog agility championships.
I have a ton more pictures to share hopefully over the next couple of days. These are just candid shots where we were having fun. Honestly, the whole day was extremely fun, exhausting, but fun.
Sun in the background? Who cares! Look at the great effect it cast.
My beautiful niece showing off her all purple pride for team competion
We walked through downtown to the various Lincoln exhibits and found a random boot on the sidewalk!
"No cameras?"
Awesome posing by my lovely daughter showing how to be a proper tourist
My goofball brother laying in an empty fountain.

Just A Lazy Day
Yesterday was an incredibly luxurious lazy day. It wasn't my intent to accomplish nothing. In fact, we had quite the itinerary of errands to run. Instead, we just never got going. I sat on the front porch and read a few chapters, took a small nap, sat in the backyard and read some more, then took yet another nap. It was fabulous.
It dawned on me at some point in the day just how relaxing this house is. I tried to recall when or where I've felt at ease like this. Certainly it happens when I'm camping, it also struck at my brother's house, but it's also a memory from my grandparent's home in Los Angeles. It was a happy, safe place - inside and out. There were lots curious things to discover, a lot of history buried in closets, but always I was able to sit back and relax.
I hope my grandchildren will think back on my house in the same comfortable coziness.
