Just got home from seeing a concert. It was two 80's cover bands. The first one, Metal Studz, was FABUOUS! They played a whole array of 80's metal and were really good. The second band, the one we went to see, was so so. They are a Van Halen cover band. "Eh" was the consensus.
At what point does someone declare "I've got blond hair and I think I should grow it out and act like David Lee Roth?" It's one thing for David Lee Roth to bounce around the stage like an idiot, it's something else when someone tries to imitate him. Professionally. I don't get it. I guess it's part of the show. Whatever. I've seen David Lee Roth in person and he really didn't impress me so maybe I don't appreciate ANYONE acting like David Lee Roth - even David Lee Roth.
It was amazing how many people brought their children. Even the lead singer brought out his grandson! Holy moly are we that old? I guess we are.
But overall everyone had a good time and that's all that counts. My beer fingers are making this a difficult post to compose so I'll sign off until the morning.
Ciao babies!

Sunday In My City - July 10, 2010
HELLO SAINT LOUIS!!!!! ARE YOU READY TO ROCK????
Last night was the first concert I've attended in a very long time. The plan was to show up early and do a little tailgating - The Husband had never heard of doing such a thing for a concert. So we stood in the scorching heat out on the parking lot to tip back a few beers under a sign clearly warning us NOT to drink in the parking lot. Oops.
We eventually meandered into the theater and took up residence at the top of the hill, still in the scorching sun, but a cool breeze provided occasional relief.
First up, Night Ranger and then.... Pat Benetar. Of course as soon as she came out on stage THIS was my view
We laughed that in another thirty years the naked women in his tattoo will have boobs sagging to their knees. So I moved behind my friends and this was my much clearer view. You'll have to trust me that is Pat Benetar on stage and on screen (the tiny red dot). I was very excited, I'm a huge fan.
Next was REO Speedwagon. My daughter tagged along and was surprised that she knew most of the songs played by the three artists. She figured she would know Pat Benetar since she's been listening to her since she was a fetus, but was pleasantly surprised to know REO and Night Ranger's music as well.
By the time Pat Benetar took the stage, the sun had dropped enough that we were in the shade. It was a delightful evening with good music and plenty of people watching - the lanky girl flailing, the stoner swaying, the mullets and hair styles 30 years out of style. We giggled and laughed and sang and danced. Absolute fun

First Concert
Last night my two sons, the college student and the middle schooler, went to the Blink-182 concert. Seven years ago it was my older son's first concert so when he heard they were coming back to town he asked to take his brother to what would be his first concert at the same exact age.
They rolled in just after 11pm, beaming and certain it was the BEST CONCERT EVER! Their father finagled an entrance to the pit up next to the stage
Both caught guitar picks, icing for a perfect night.
Amazingly both got up with no problem this morning - probably so they can boast bragging rights to classmates.
