I have such an extreme fondness for kid art! It pained me to toss out anything my kids made, especially what they drew. All three of my kids are very talented artists, but the squiggle lined stuff they made when they were little is definitely my favorite.
Their schoolwork is sitting in my basement, becoming brittle over time, stored away in giant rubbermaid tubs. One day I'll scan them. One piece stands out as my son's preschool class was supposed to make T-shirts for Mother's Day. I never got around to transferring his iron-on to a shirt. It was a drawing of him by him using special crayons that easily transfer. As special as that was, it sat and sat and sat, like most of my projects. One day I wised up and ironed it onto a white piece of fabric then embroidered over it. That's good almost forever. Now it sits waiting for me to make a mom quilt for myself, but I want to stitch other masterpieces, the ones waiting in the rubbermaid tub.
Well today on Pinterest, I saw the most amazing transformation of kid art. I don't know that I will ever do this, but it is most definitely worth sharing. The woman is talented!

Last Night's Post
Pinterest has become a new addiction... because I need more of those. After scrolling for hours through other people's boards I have come to the conclusion people have some seriously jacked up tastes. AND they have far too much time to make some seriously hideous crafts. I broke down and created a board called "WTF".
Overall, I'm finding really cool stuff. Most of it is ooh and ahh or trips down memory lane. I am concerned that in time it's going to become a playground for pornography. They have a "report" feature, but there really isn't anything to protect our eyes from other people's perversion. It's really an open canvas so hold tight as this cute little website hits the news with controversy.
Mark my words.

Friday Fragments - December 30, 2011
Hey all! Did you miss me? I took a vacation - both virtual and real. Hubby and I traveled to North Carolina visiting his sister. That is a TWELVE HOUR drive from St. Louis. Good thing I like driving... a lot... and think roadtrips are awesome. We had a splendid time and I will be posting pictures on Sunday.
Well... okay... here...
Friday night dinner - a fish fry! The last time we visited we were treated to fish, shrimp and chicken deep fried and it was yummy. So this was our big request for this trip. Yeah, we make our own every so often, but not all three at once and we never do shrimp. Quite the treat.
So a few years ago my daughter encouraged me to join Facebook if for no other reason than it was an easy way to exchange pictures. And I did. And she has regretted that suggestion every day since. You would think she would learn. The little idiot (wave hi - she's a frequent lurker) sent me an invitation to Pinterest. At first I was sort of "eh" about it but then several other people started up on it. Again, I'm pretty sure my daughter regrets the suggestion. I've gone full tilt and am always finding more crap to post.
Oh, you're not familiar with Pinterest? It's a website where you post pictures of stuff you like. There are a ton of pins posted by other people that you can grab for your own, like funny sayings you see plastered all over Facebook or all of the elements you like when planning your wedding. You can also grab pictures off the internet or upload your own. It's not "stealing" pictures, just posting that you like it. You could pin that fried shrimp picture above. It will link back to this blog and actually increase traffic here - so yeah, pin it!
Who is missing the snow? Evidently there was a little splatter sometime on Monday but I wasn't here to savor it. If you'll all remember, I was NOT among those last year bitching about the white fluffy stuff - I like it. I do find it funny that everyone is bemoaning the lack of winter.
