*Exciting news! I don't enter most blog give-aways. I'm just not a contest person. But occasionally one catches my eye, so I shrug my shoulders and go for it. GUESS WHAT? I won! THE FREAKING GRAND PRIZE!!!! I never win, I mean when I do enter. This is truly exciting for me. It was through Fabrics N Quilts. Now I'm stuck with the chore of DECIDING how to use the gift certificate. AUGH! I'm horrible at deciding.
*I recently bought new shoes. I made the horrible mistake of wearing them into work one day and was in pain all day long. Then somebody made a brilliant suggestion, bring in a second pair and slowly break in the new ones. Huh. So I did it a few days ago and OMG. They're still not completely broke in, the part above my toes still need to stretch out a little more, but they're getting there.
*Saturday we took Ian to see the A-Team. I liked it for being an action movie. I was right about it being impressive on the big screen and don't regret choosing to go. The Husband couldn't release his memory of the TV show and kept making comparisons. Ian never watched the TV show so he loved it on its own merits. I was subjected to the TV show, but really never got into it. That was more something my brothers and step-dad would drool over. I couldn't even tell you the character names. But it had plenty of explosions and chases and smartass goofiness to keep me entertained. What do you mean it's impossible to fly a helicopter upside-down?
*Computer Geek Update - there has been a laptop at work that I flippantly referred to as "possessed". It was one of those rare computers that has been nothing but a pain in the ass since the day we pulled it out of the box. Unfortunately, the various problems have never been reproduceable and reformatting the computer usually fixed it. That means when I called Apple tech support there wasn't a viable problem and couldn't send it in for repairs. I've endured two years of this stupid machine constantly coming back to me for random freezing up or shutting down. I got to the point that I stopped issuing it to users and kept it in the office for emergency check-out. Well guess what? Last week the damn thing DIED. Dead. I couldn't resurrect it for NOTHING. I've never been so excited about a dead computer. Actually that's a lie. I was equally happy about a dead server several years ago for the same reason - pain in the ass, freezing up, randomly dying, undiagnosable problems. So yay! The laptop is on it's way to a repair center in Memphis.
*Yesterday I declared it BIRTHDAY MONTH. I want EVERYONE to celebrate and for those of you who would rather forget your own birthday, that's okay, you can still have fun. On my actual birthday, July 28th, I'll host a blog hop of everyone doing some sort of celebration. It doesn't have to be your own or even a current celebration. Just dig up some birthday photos, especially cake and candles, and join the fun. I even went so far as creating a button! And you, special Friday Fragmenters get a sneak peak.
Don't you feel special? You should. And really, that's what birthdays should be all about - making you feel special. It's not about aging or facing your mortality. It's about focusing happiness on one special person for a day. And we all deserve that if only one day a year. And if no one is doing that for you they should be beat with a wire hanger. Birthday month. Fun. Celebration. DO IT. So come back on July 28th and focus on a little fun.
