Drawsome

Last week someone convinced me to try the game "Draw Something"

I totally suck at drawing.  I mean REALLY bad.  The only upside to this game is that I crack myself up with how absolutely horrid my drawings are.

It's like Pictionary with a limited set of letters to choose from for the answer.  Kinda hangman-ish.  I think the cache of letters is the only way to get past my dreadful drawings.

The biggest drawback is that it can only be played on a touch screen like an iphone, Android, or ipad.  I detest playing games on my phone because it drains the shit out of the battery, and because I can barely see the tiny screen, and because my drawings are even worse (like that was even possible) with the tee-tiny palate, and because my hand cramps up from holding the phone.

Friday Fragments - April 27, 2012

Soooooooo....  I took a vacation from blogging, a "blogcation", during my busy season at work.  Gotta say it was refreshing as I had put a lot of pressure on myself to keep up with my posts.  Of course I'm going to have days like today where it's past lunch time and I'm still trying to compose the first three words.

So much has happened the last month.  Of course I didn't take the time to jot any of it down, although there were many ocassions I thought to myself, "hmmm this would be a great blog post!"

Nothing has changed in  my life - still married, still living in St. Louis Missouri, my big kids are plugging away at their jobs and generally busy being adults, my youngest still lives at home, and my brother continues to occupy my guest room as he contemplates an escape back to Florida.

****

My youngest has taken up Ultimate Frisbee, a sport completely foreign to my brain.  It's a version of football (American football) so it's basically toss the object to each other while trying to keep it away from the other team while running the proper direction down a field.  Unlike football you don't toss the disk (official term, not "frisbee") into the endfield but someone has to be there to catch it.  Watching a few rounds of this game I've decided it's a team level form of keep away.  I'm sure it was dreamt up one night after drinking several cans of beer while standing in a park and holding a frisbee.  Like rugby, it reeks of drunk man rules.

Easter was fabulous.  It's been a long time since we've celebrated Easter ON the actual day.  Usually it's a weekend or two later.  Eleven people converged on my mother's house.  She has ample space in most of her rooms, however her dining room is meant for a family of four to be comfortably seated, maybe five, definitely not more than six.

This was also the first time in many many years that Easter was not rainy, or cold, or basically unsuitable to be outdoors.  IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY!  After we squished into her dining room for lunch we scrambled out to the backyard.  My kids tossed the frisbee/disk back and forth, my mom and I blew bubbles at the baby and the men stood on the porch supervising the mayhem.

I posted a video on facebook of my kids.  They got into the plastic eggs and started tossing them at each other.  "Tossing" sounds so gentle, they were beaning the crap out of each other and I'm surprised none of the eggs were broken in the process.

And the Grandbaby.  The child is huge.  He is 8 months old and is already wearing 1 yr clothing.  He's crawling like a pro and pulling up on furniture.  He's trying to walk and talk, but isn't quite there yet.  He's determined and will master all of that and more.

Here he looks exactly like his father at this age.

I'm so happy to get back in the saddle of blogging.  You cannot imagine all the words jumbled up in my head!  Thank you Mrs. 4444's for gathering us together to share our experiences, unload our thoughts, and to play meet and greet.

My Arrest Record

Shocked I've churned out TWO posts in one day?

Yes, "arrest record".  What the hell?  Evidently the spammers out there are overly concerned about my history or something.  There are five, FIVE, different messages in my junkmail (you do know you should at least take a peek in your junk folder every so often? Don't open anything up and by all means DO NOT CLICK THEIR LINKS, but just make sure email messages from me and other important people didn't get dumped there by mistake.)  But anyways, five messages all titled "Your Arrest Record".

As much as I like to talk a good game I really haven't done anything arrest worthy my entire life.  I rode in the back of a police car when I was fourteen for being out after curfew and with my bad-influence friends, Piranha and Booty, was escorted home.  That's it.  Two speeding tickets and one parking ticket all promptly paid before the deadline.  More often than not I'm the crazy woman calling the police to report stray beasts wandering down the street or to make other annoying reports.  I'm THAT person, not the one in the mugshot.

Sending me these messages is as off the mark as the "hot Asian girls" and "Viagra at low low prices" emails.  I don't know what demographic they're looking for but I really am not interested.  It does make me wonder what site I went to, what freebie crap I solicited, or who I gave my email address to?

Big Purple Bruises and One Really Tiny One

On Sunday night I went out cruising with my brother searching for furniture in the bulk trash.  I'll talk about the awesome stuff on another day.

I have several random bruises from that night as one would expect from three hours of hoisting chairs and couches onto the back of a pickup truck - on my arms, one on my knee, fortunately nothing on my face...

And a huge one on my thigh.  It looks as though I was beaned by a softball... by a professional pitcher... at close range.

This morning, four days later, it is completely purple.

That is what happens when you step backwards into the corner of the truck.  I hit it so hard that I doubled over gasping for air.  A glorious bruise was a given.

It's one of the largest bruises I've ever had and I really can't think of a time when I've had a bigger one, but I could be wrong.

Ironically, last night I landed one of the SMALLEST bruises ever.  I was catching frisbees with my son and it hit the tip of my finger.  The resulting bruise looks like I poked myself with an inkpen, not that I've ever poked myself in such a way that I would know what such an injury would resemble.

If you've ever envied me, contemplated what my posh life is like, I gotta tell you it's physically painful and filled with all sorts of mystery bumps and bruises.  I'm kinda happy that I actually know HOW these purple spots appeared on my body.

Does anyone find it amusing that purple is my favorite color?

I'm BAAAACCCKKKK

Blogcation is over.

Did you miss me?  I definitely missed you.  Something would happen and I would think "damn this would be a good blog topic"  and then forget it ten minutes later.  I don't regret taking the time off.  My poor little brain was so pooped from everything all going on at the same time.  I was still surfing the internet but I spent my time playing Words With Friends and posting on Pinterest.  That was about all I could muster.

So, like taking vacation from work it takes a bit to get back into the groove.  I'll try to keep posting, even little blips like this.

I'm here.

I'll start visiting again.
